Middle East analyst Yoni Ben Menachem described yesterday (Monday) in an interview with Tal Meir how Qatar and Turkey are operating behind the scenes to advance the agreement with the murderous terrorist organization Hamas, attempting to shift the focus of pressure onto Israel through the U.S. administration.
Ben Menachem explained that the mediating countries are attempting to hold a meeting in Cairo, after which they will turn to Washington requesting that pressure be put on Israel to implement the agreement: “Their major concern is that the right-wing government led by Netanyahu won’t make any move on this issue ahead of the elections in Israel at the end of October this year.”
The Middle East analyst added that parallel preparations have already begun in the Gaza Strip toward implementing the outline, including establishing committees tasked with registering weapons held by Hamas and locating storage sites. He emphasized: “All preparations are supposed to be completed within 14 days, after which pressure on Israel to begin executing the agreement will intensify.”
“Ultimately, their plan is to go to Trump,” Ben Menachem explained, noting: “Both Turkey and Qatar cooked up this agreement behind the scenes to pass the ball into Israel’s court, and we may then witness American pressure pushing in that direction to begin executing the agreement.”
Meanwhile, despite optimism in Israel, the expert assessed that Hamas will not truly disarm and emphasized that the issue is not limited to Hamas alone, as Palestinian Islamic Jihad in the Strip has also announced its opposition to the Board of Peace agreement—raising the question of who will disarm them as well.
