The IDF destroyed terror tunnels in the Beaufort region of southern Lebanon using roughly 700 tons of explosives, according to a joint statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz.
The underground infrastructure was a central part of Hezbollah’s plan to invade communities in the Galilee, the statement said. The operation was carried out as part of the IDF’s systematic campaign to dismantle Hezbollah’s terror infrastructure in southern Lebanon.
The tunnel demolition followed ceasefire violations by Hezbollah, the statement said. Israel emphasized it will not tolerate breaches of the agreement, and that any attempt by the organization to harm IDF forces or Israeli civilians will be met with a severe and forceful response.
The statement added that the IDF will remain in the security zone in southern Lebanon and continue destroying terror infrastructure to prevent Hezbollah from rebuilding its capabilities.
