Two Israeli civilians arrived early Thursday at the Hermon area and crossed the border into Syrian territory. An IDF force dispatched to the location worked to locate them and returned them to Israeli territory, the military said.
The two were detained and transferred to Israel Police for further handling. The IDF condemned the incident and made clear that crossing the border constitutes a serious disruption to operational activity and a danger to the security of forces operating in the area.
Law enforcement officials were instructed to prosecute the individuals to the fullest extent of the law, with the goal of preventing them from repeating the act. The IDF said this is a recurring phenomenon that constitutes a criminal offense.
