Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman declared Monday that Tehran will not allow the United States to set the terms for ending the war, emphasizing that the situation remains unchanged—and the Strait of Hormuz continues to be closed. He added that mediators have conveyed messages from the U.S., but claimed Iran is not currently talking with Washington.
The spokesman, Esmaeil Baghaei, also addressed the Ukrainian front and warned President Zelensky’s patrons that they should be careful lest the consequences of his actions harm them as well. He characterized the Ukrainian attack on the Iranian ship as an unjustified action contrary to international law, and promised it would not go unanswered.
Baghaei further emphasized that the use of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes is “a right for everyone.” Responding to the nuclear agreement signed between the United States and Saudi Arabia, he said: “I am expressing our position. The reason for the pressure applied against Iran was precisely Iran’s exercise of its right. We leave it to the world to judge.”
