Iran’s Revolutionary Guards issued a direct threat to Britain last night (Thursday), following its decision to allow the United States to use British bases for strikes on Iran. Tehran warned that any British base used by the Americans to carry out attacks on Iranian territory would become a “legitimate military target.”
1+The Iranian threat comes after Britain’s incoming Prime Minister Andy Burnham authorized the United States to use British military bases for what London defines as “defensive strikes” against Iran. Among the bases mentioned: Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean and Royal Air Force Fairford in southwest England.
London responded to the threat with a firm message. A British government spokesperson said the kingdom’s armed forces are prepared to protect the country’s security against any type of attack, whether on British soil or beyond. According to him, Britain stands ready to defend itself at all times, including through air defense and missile systems and in cooperation with its NATO allies.
