Iran’s Revolutionary Guards issued a direct warning to Britain today (Thursday) following its decision to allow the United States to use its bases for strikes on Iran: “We warn you—don’t add more to the file against you.” They also threatened that any British base used by the US to carry out strikes against Iran will become a military target.
Britain’s incoming Prime Minister Andy Burnham approved two days ago for the United States to use British military bases for what Britain defines as “defensive strikes” against Iran. The decision rests on an earlier discussion among senior ministers and security officials, before he took office, in which it was agreed that the US would continue to use Diego Garcia base and Royal Air Force Fairford for these operations.
The move means British bases are expected to support American military activity and allow it to strengthen its presence in the Mediterranean. According to reports, Washington intends to use bases in Cyprus as well, alongside Diego Garcia and Fairford, to counter Iranian missile threats and protect ships in the Strait of Hormuz. The move provides significant logistical and strategic backing to American forces, aimed at blocking Iranian threats in the maritime and aerial space.
