Likud lawmaker Moshe Saada said on live television that "we all know we're heading toward an attack on Iran, maybe even this weekend," though he quickly clarified he was offering assessments, not official information.

Israel may be heading toward a strike on Iran as soon as this weekend, a senior Likud lawmaker said Thursday—though he quickly walked back the claim as speculation.

MK Moshe Saada made the comment during an interview on the “Open Studio” program. “On the contrary, he’s standing firm on the nuclear issue. And we all know we’re heading toward an attack on Iran, maybe even this weekend—these are assessments,” Saada said. “And on the Saudi issue too, people rushed to say what should be, how it could be, and again Trump is proving there’s a values-based alliance between us and the United States.”

Saada immediately qualified his remarks, stressing he was offering “assessments” rather than official information.

The lawmaker’s comments come amid mounting tension between the United States and Iran and heightened alert levels within Israel’s security establishment, which in recent months has prepared for a range of scenarios on the Iranian front. Security officials have assessed that the IDF is ready to move quickly into combat if circumstances develop, though neither Israel nor the United States has issued any official statement about a decision to launch an attack in the coming days.
