Several Israeli civilians were detained early Wednesday at Mount Hermon after arriving at the site in an attempt to cross the border into Syria. IDF forces operating at the location stopped their advance and transferred them to Israeli police for further handling.
The IDF said the incident constitutes a serious disruption to operational activity in the border area. The military emphasized that this is a criminal offense that endangers both the civilians and IDF forces.
The military added that such attempts are recurring and harm the forces’ operations. The IDF expects law enforcement authorities to prosecute those involved to the fullest extent and act decisively to stop the phenomenon.
