Kuwait’s military announced Sunday that the country’s air defense systems are engaging airborne threats. According to a statement from the General Staff, the attack includes missiles and drones fired toward targets in the country from Iran.

Kuwaiti authorities clarified that explosion sounds heard across the area are the result of interception operations carried out by defense systems. No additional details about damage or the source of the fire have been released at this stage.
The attack comes in response to Washington’s seventh round of strikes against targets in Tehran between Friday and Saturday. Iran launched a broad wave of attacks against various targets across the Middle East, including Kuwait and Jordan, as well as a particularly significant wave of strikes toward Saudi Arabia that was met with widespread anger.
