A new wave of U.S. strikes is underway inside Iran after US Central Command announced it had launched fresh attacks on targets across the country. According to CENTCOM, the operation is aimed at further degrading Iranian capabilities used to target commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. The offensive comes as the U.S. prepares to impose a sweeping naval blockade on Iranian ports and coastal areas, set to take effect at 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
Dramatic footage released today shows an Iranian drone striking a U.S. base in Bahrain, part of a broader wave of overnight attacks launched by Iran across the Gulf. In a statement issued minutes ago, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said the operations carried out from last night through today’s midday strikes were retaliation for earlier U.S. attacks on Iranian coastal military sites.
Kuwait’s military reported that five cruise missiles, one ballistic missile, and 33 drones launched at vital civilian and military facilities were intercepted during the evening. Additionally, a Kuwaiti naval vessel was attacked, and four security personnel were wounded. The military noted that interceptor debris fell in various locations, causing extensive property damage.
In an official statement, the Revolutionary Guards claimed responsibility for a series of strikes, saying: “We destroyed several weapons depots and parts of enemy ships and aircraft at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain.” They also claimed to have inflicted heavy damage in Kuwait: “Our fighters destroyed or damaged several MQ-9 drones at Ali Al Salem Air Base by striking the platform where they were deployed.”
Meanwhile, reports continue to emerge from Iran. Saberin News, an outlet affiliated with pro-Iranian militias in Iraq, reported explosions in the southwestern city of Ahvaz. The developments mark a significant escalation in the conflict, with both Washington and Tehran confirming strikes on military bases and strategic infrastructure over the past 24 hours.
