After previously announcing plans to impose a transit fee in the Strait of Hormuz, U.S. President Donald Trump wrote today (Tuesday) on his social media platform that the strategic waterway will remain open to the free passage of all vessels worldwide, thanks, he said, to “the tremendous power of the United States military.”
Trump clarified that the new policy abandons the proposed transit fee for all ships and instead focuses exclusively on the economic isolation of Iran. “We will impose a full naval blockade only on ships arriving at or departing from Iranian ports, or carrying any cargo related to Iran,” the president wrote.
In the post, Trump sharply criticized Tehran’s leadership, describing it as “lying, violent, and malicious,” and said its conduct is leading the country “down a path of total destruction.” He also wrote that “oil is flowing like never before,” adding that the days when Iran harmed hundreds of thousands of people—including 52,000 protesters—are over.
On the economic front, Trump announced that following productive talks with Middle Eastern leaders, his administration had reached major trade and investment agreements with Gulf states. According to Trump, those investments will fund factories and manufacturing facilities on a historic scale, creating millions of new high-paying American jobs.
The president concluded: “America is winning again, and most importantly—Iran will never have a nuclear weapon!”
