The U.S. military announced a successful strike on a submarine and naval vessel maintenance facility in Bandar Abbas. Three one-way attack drones struck the port at an Iranian naval base. U.S. Central Command said the operation was intended to degrade Iran’s ability to continue threatening commercial shipping lanes.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced today (Monday) that it carried out a targeted strike against a submarine and ship maintenance facility at Iran’s naval base in Bandar Abbas, using multiple one-way attack surface drones.

According to the command’s statement, three Corsair unmanned surface vessels struck the port at the naval base—marking the first time American forces have used sea drones in operational combat.

CENTCOM’s statement said: “Yesterday, using multiple one-way attack surface drones, CENTCOM forces successfully struck a submarine and ship maintenance facility in Iran. Three Corsair unmanned surface vessels hit the port at Bandar Abbas Naval Base, marking the first time American forces have employed sea drones in combat operations. Last night’s strikes degraded Iran’s ability to continue attacking commercial shipping.”
