Eliahu Yosian, an Iran expert, said today (Sunday) in an interview with Channel 14 morning news anchor Tal Meir that the U.S. campaign against Iran is set to expand, emphasizing: “We all knew a ceasefire agreement of this type doesn’t hold water.”
2+Yosian stated that “this will certainly be toward another campaign,” adding that the continuation of the war will look different as the United States will need to take significant steps to defeat the Iranian regime: “To defeat the Iranian regime, three actions must be taken.”
The expert described the three required actions as striking the regime’s revenue sources, introducing ground forces into Iranian territory, and cooperating with Iranian elements opposing the government: “One, they must take control of oil and gas fields or attack them, cut them off from the economic flow. Two, they must bring ground forces into Iran. And three, they must arm and cooperate with Iranians on the ground.”
2+Yosian emphasized that without these three moves, the United States won’t be able to bring down the regime, noting that some of the steps are already underway: “Meanwhile, the first two points are being executed to one degree or another. They’re taking down infrastructure, at least in southern Iran, and they’re flowing in ground forces. Not yet inside Iran, but they are moving them to borders close to Iran.”
The expert addressed recent American strikes, noting that the United States is focusing on two main targets: “One, vital infrastructure, or more precisely economic infrastructure. And second, everything located in southern Iran that gives them the ability to introduce ground forces into Iran.”
2+According to him, hitting bases and intelligence systems in the south of the country may be preparing the ground for a ground operation later. “We’re seeing all the air force bases and all the eyes of the Iranian regime in southern Iran. The United States is taking them down in its attacks,” he said, adding: “It’s possible they’ll bring in ground forces later, at a time they see fit.”
In conclusion, Yosian said the central question is how the United States will emerge from the campaign: “Will it be the sole boss, the decisive power in the Middle East, or in the end does it leave the Iranian regime in some form, which will still have a say in this space.”
