Two weeks after devastating earthquakes struck Venezuela, Israel's humanitarian mission is assessing residential areas, hospitals and destruction sites to help restore infrastructure and allow evacuees to return home safely.

Two weeks after devastating earthquakes struck Venezuela, Israel’s humanitarian mission released new footage Tuesday showing expert teams surveying residential complexes, hospitals and destruction sites. The assessments aim to evaluate building conditions and develop a comprehensive picture on the ground, with the goal of restoring infrastructure and allowing evacuees to return home safely.

Following a series of powerful earthquakes that left widespread destruction and collapsed infrastructure across Venezuela, the local government reached out to the international community for urgent humanitarian aid. Despite political tensions and the absence of formal diplomatic relations, Israel immediately responded affirmatively to the request, aligned with its values, which emphasize that saving one life is akin to saving the entire world.

Israel dispatched a professional rescue mission from the Home Front Command, including medical forces and engineering equipment working on the ground to locate survivors, provide urgent medical care to affected populations and develop rehabilitation plans. The effort has earned deep appreciation from local residents and senior government officials.

The Israeli mission continues to generate moving headlines. Earlier this week, C14 published exclusive footage of ZAKA volunteers who also arrived to assist with rescue operations. The footage showed volunteers standing around a body they had extracted from the rubble, reciting together Psalm 121: “I lift up my eyes to the mountains.”
