Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez praised the Israeli aid delegation that arrived in the country following the earthquake on Friday, describing it as “a team with very high training and professionalism.” According to Rodríguez, the experts have already begun working in the field, assisting in assessing infrastructure damage and locating survivors and missing persons.
Israeli aid teams were sent to Venezuela even though the two countries have no diplomatic relations, and Israel has had no active embassy in the country since it closed in 2009. Still, the deployment of the mission is seen as a move that could pave the way for a future thaw in relations between Jerusalem and Caracas.

The president noted that the delegation’s arrival was made possible through a connection facilitated by Venezuela’s Jewish community. She thanked “Rabbi Cohen for all the coordination that allowed us to establish contact with the Israeli government and bring here, at this moment, a team of experts that has begun implementing the protocol to open the infrastructure rehabilitation process and assess the state of infrastructure.”
“The team has already begun implementing the protocol to open the infrastructure rehabilitation process and assess their condition,” she said, noting that these are experts with advanced capabilities who can determine whether there are survivors or bodies beneath the rubble even before rehabilitation work can begin.
Rodríguez concluded by thanking the Israeli delegation members and noting that they have already held working meetings with Venezuelan authorities. “This is a team with very high training and professionalism, and I hope we can continue to advance at this stage.”
