US President Donald Trump said on social media that Tehran requested an official meeting between the two countries in Qatar. The post came just hours after senior Iranian officials flatly denied any intention or contact regarding direct talks with the United States.

United States President Donald Trump posted a tweet on his social media account “Truth Social” today (Monday), revealing that Iran has approached his administration and requested an official meeting between the parties. According to Trump’s statement, the meeting is expected to take place tomorrow in Doha, the capital of Qatar.

“Iran has requested a meeting. It will take place tomorrow in Doha!”, President Trump wrote on his official account, signing the short statement in his name. The president’s statement comes against the backdrop of a series of unequivocal denials from Tehran over the past 24 hours regarding its willingness to return to the negotiating table.

Iranian officials have repeatedly emphasized in recent hours that there are no contacts, direct or indirect, with the Washington administration, and have completely ruled out the possibility of an imminent meeting between the countries’ representatives.
