The Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, visited Northern Command and the 36th Division this morning (Sunday), alongside Northern Command chief Maj. Gen. Ori Gordin, 36th Division commander, Brig. Gen. Yiftach Norkin, Operations Division head, Brig. Gen. Barak Hiram, and other commanders. During the visit, Zamir conducted a situation assessment in light of recent developments, approved plans for continued operations, and held command discussions with brigade commanders.
1+During the visit, Zamir addressed the agreement signed with Lebanon’s government: “The agreement signed with Lebanon’s government is historic and significant—the operational power and military achievements the IDF has accomplished in recent months created the conditions for it. We will honor the agreement and work for its success. The test now is the test of action by both sides, and the coming period will dictate the future.”
The Chief of Staff stressed that despite the agreement, the IDF is not reducing its alert level. “The Northern Command theater is the IDF’s center of gravity now. We are prepared for a rapid return to fighting both in Lebanon and in Iran, if required,” he said, clarifying that the military continues preparing operational plans for every scenario. Zamir also addressed the situation of forces in the field: “The security of our forces is of supreme importance. The fighters of the 36th Division and our commandos control the Bufor Ridge area and are equipped with all the tools and means to overcome the enemy. All IDF capabilities are here to continue helping you carry out the mission.”
1+He went on to emphasize the state of the Hezbollah terror organization and the IDF’s readiness to continue: “Hezbollah is battered and wounded, and its operatives are trapped underground. The IDF is in operational control of the area and maintains high vigilance to deliver swift and lethal strikes if the ceasefire is violated.” Concluding his remarks, the Chief of Staff praised the commanders and fighters of Northern Command: “I want to express my great appreciation to the brigades, the division, and Northern Command for the achievements and for leading the moves that brought about the agreement.”
