The IDF announced this morning (Thursday) that Master Sergeant (res.) Basel Suweid, a soldier in the Golani Brigade Combat Team, was killed late last night as a result of a military vehicle overturning during an operational activity in the area of the village of Rav a-Taltin.
The serious accident occurred at around 10:50 p.m., when the vehicle in which the fighters were traveling overturned during an operational trip in the complex terrain of southern Lebanon. As a result of the vehicle overturning, Master Sergeant Basel Suweid was killed on the spot. Another soldier who was with him was moderately injured; he was taken to a hospital for urgent medical treatment, and his family was informed of the details of the incident.
The IDF expresses its deep sympathy for the family’s grief and will continue to accompany them at this difficult time. The incident is currently being investigated by army officials with the aim of drawing lessons and preventing the recurrence of similar accidents.
