Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Bakai stated today (Tuesday) that Tehran has no intention at this stage of allowing International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors to visit the nuclear sites that were attacked during the war against the United States and Israel.
This contradicts the statement of Vice President JD Vance, who announced yesterday that Tehran had agreed to allow IAEA inspections of its nuclear facilities, a step that he said could be the first step on the way to ending Iran’s nuclear program.
Vance himself made it clear that the road to an agreement is still long: “We have built very good foundations, we have not built the house yet,” he said, adding that “there is still a lot to do, both on the nuclear issue and on economic matters.”
Earlier today, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister and head of the technical negotiating team, Kazem Gharibabadi, announced the “successful conclusion” of the technical talks between Iran, the United States, Pakistan, and Qatar, and the completion of preparations for the next phase of the high-level talks.
