President Donald Trump announced tonight (Thursday) that he has canceled planned strikes and bombings against Iran after talks with the Islamic Republic reached “the highest level of Iranian leadership” and received approval, he said.
In a statement, Trump said the discussions and final points of the agreement have been approved both in principle and in many details. According to him, all parties involved have given their consent to the framework, including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Egypt, along with additional actors.
Trump emphasized that despite canceling the strikes, the naval blockade will remain in full effect until the deal is completed. He added that the date and location of the signing have not yet been announced, but a statement on the matter is expected soon.
Trump’s announcement marks, at least for now, a shift from a possible military confrontation to a broad regional diplomatic move, with full details of the agreement not yet disclosed to the public.
