Hezbollah released an official statement today (Thursday) claiming its operatives shot down an Israeli Heron 1 drone at 4:00 p.m. over the Nakhleh area in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley. According to the terror group, the drone was downed using a “special missile” in what it described as retaliation for ceasefire violations and Israeli incursions into Lebanese airspace.
In its statement, Hezbollah framed the incident as part of its efforts to defend Lebanon. The terror group did not release footage of the downing and provided no additional details about the drone’s condition after the strike.
Following the incident, the IDF reportedly struck the drone’s crash site. According to reports, the strike was aimed at preventing the recovery of components, weapons systems, or sensitive intelligence that may have been aboard the aircraft.
