Border Police and Israel Police officers arrested a Kiryat Gat resident overnight Tuesday who was transporting ten illegal residents in his vehicle near Lod. The illegal residents were found crammed and hidden in the car’s trunk.
The incident occurred during routine operational activity when Border Police spotted a vehicle that aroused their suspicion. When the car was stopped for inspection, the driver claimed he was returning from visiting the graves of righteous figures in northern Israel. But a thorough search uncovered ten illegal residents who were crammed and hidden in the vehicle’s trunk.
The suspect, a 39-year-old Kiryat Gat resident, was arrested on the spot and transferred for further investigation at the Lod police station. The illegal residents were also transferred to police for additional handling and investigation, with the aim of prosecuting all those involved.
This is not an isolated case but a dangerous and ongoing phenomenon. Police warn that the issue has significant security implications, including the employment and housing of illegal residents by citizens and business owners—something that deepens the problem and endangers public safety.
Just yesterday, security forces spotted a suspicious shuttle vehicle near Mitzpe Modiin and found 17 illegal residents inside during inspection. All suspects were arrested, and the shuttle driver was questioned on suspicion of transporting them.
