The Houthi military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, issued a statement claiming responsibility for the launches toward Israel this morning. According to him, Houthi forces targeted “sensitive targets belonging to the Israeli enemy in the Jaffa area,” as part of the organization’s ongoing military operations against Israel.
At the same time, Saree announced an escalation of measures in the maritime arena, declaring an “absolute ban on enemy shipping in the Red Sea.” He stated that any Israeli maritime movement in the area will henceforth be considered a legitimate military target for the organization’s forces. Later in his statement, he also announced the renewal of the “naval blockade on Israel,” clarifying that the Houthis intend to expand their operations in accordance with developments on the ground.
“We will respond to escalation with escalation,” Saree said, adding that the organization’s operations will intensify as long as the fighting continues, in coordination and cooperation with additional elements within the “Axis of Jihad and Resistance.”
