A female soldier has completed training for the IDF’s elite Chief of Staff Reconnaissance Unit—the first woman to finish the specialized course.
The milestone marks another phase in a pilot program launched in December 2024 to examine expanding women’s service in combat units, including special forces. The soldier passed preliminary screening, met required criteria, and completed a dedicated training track that lasted over a year and a half.
The IDF congratulated the soldier on her significant and groundbreaking achievement.
How she’ll be integrated into the unit’s operational activities will be finalized soon and implemented according to operational needs and in compliance with the Joint Service Order.
Meanwhile, a summary of the training phase will be brought to the General Staff shortly.
