A new Yeshiva, named Tomchei Temimim – Beit Binyamin, is set to open its doors to students in the Hebrew month of Elul, which is mid-August, in the Ukrainian Jewish village of Anatevka. The yeshiva was officially inaugurated in a festive ceremony over the weekend.
Over €8 million has been invested in the luxurious religious project by an anonymous philanthropist. Construction of the yeshiva began just days after the Russian invasion in February 2022. The village of Anatevka was established in 2015 after conflict with Russia began in Eastern Ukraine, to provide a home for families displaced from that area.
1+The inauguration was attended by the Chief Rabbi of Ukraine, Rabbi Moshe Azman, and the Chief Rabbi of Moldova, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Axelrod, and representatives from Israel and across Europe.
Rabbi Azman stated: “we have created all the necessary conditions to enable students to devote themselves to Torah study and to their personal and spiritual development within an environment that supports their growth around the clock.”
1+The campus features a central study hall (Beit Midrash), a library, dining facilities, student dormitories, a mikveh, sports facilities, open spaces dedicated to learning and educational activities, as well as a large bomb shelter due to the persistent security threat of Russian military strikes on civilians.
