The detention of two Arab hotel workers suspected of burning a dog to death has been extended by Eilat's Magistrate Court.

The Eilat Magistrate’s Court extended the detention of two Arab hotel workers suspected of burning a dog to death during Lag BaOmer celebrations in Neveh Hareif in the Arava region.

The court granted the police request to extend the detention of the two suspects, Sami Barsoum and Najib Saada, Arabs from East Jerusalem in their thirties, to continue the investigation. The judge ordered their detention extended until Sunday, May 17, when they will be brought back for another hearing based on developments in the investigation.

Israel Police emphasized that the investigation is still in its early stages and that they intend to exhaust all possibilities to get to the truth. Police view animal cruelty cases with great severity and will use all available means to bring those responsible to justice.
